Hello everyone, I have had a letting agent manage my property for over a year, however rent collection has been a problem and asked her to serve an eviction notice. she submitted the 8 week notice which expired last Thursday. However she has returned the keys to the house which was in her possession and closed all files relating to the management of the house, which leaves me with tenants who still live in my house but wont pay the rent. Is the letting agent not responsible anymore for submission of court orders or any other action to force through the eviction or do I do all this myself now? Its almost as if she has washed her hands off the problem . any advice please or who can I turn to ?Thank you |

It depends whats in the signed T&C,s you have with the agent. As a rule most agents will not evict tenants because it is very easy to get it wrong and ARLA advise their members not to do it.
Maybe you should look back on all the paperwork to see if the agent did all the ref they state they should do to see if they cut any corners.

The advice I give should not be construed as a definitive answer, and is without liability.
