People with property usually have lots of valuable documents.
Does anybody use a safe deposit box to hold them ?
If so, care to share the best banks & their charges with the rest of us ?

Comments assume you're in England/Wales, pay under £2083 monthly rent and that your last AST was dated after 6/4/2007. Probably the best landlord in the world - well if its good enough for Carlsberg.

Hi Richlist
I read this week that the new bank Metro who opened their first branches this week were offering deposit boxes...but...I cannot remember how much .
I do not use them myself but now you hve brought this to my attention , I am sure I should be considering it .

Julles,
The new Metro bank are charging £100 a year but I don't know how big the boxes are. The problem with them is that they only have one branch in London at the moment and I wouldn't want to travel into London just to access my box.
Even properties with mortgages can build up lots of valuable documents. Very often I end up with a pack of legal docs that the mortgage company & land registry don't want but which may be very usefull when selling the property. In addition there are often guarantees, Fensa certificates etc etc.
I have accounts with Lloyds, RBS & HSBC so I'll post back on my findings.
